One team designs, measures, orders and installs your cabinets
Pi Kitchen and Bath is the designer, the supplier and the installer on every job. There is no second company involved, so there is one point of responsibility from the first measurement to the final punch list.
One company, start to finish
The same team draws the layout, measures the room, places the order and hangs the boxes. No handoffs between vendors.
One number to call
If something arrives wrong, we open the claim, chase the manufacturer and schedule the fix. That is our job, not yours.
Installers see the drawings
Most wrong-size deliveries start with a measurement taken by someone who will never install the cabinet. Ours do.
Tradeoffs up front
Every line on this page has something it is not good at. You hear about it at the estimate, not after installation.
Install-day problems are visible and get fixed on the spot. The complaints that matter surface around week six: a hinge that starts to sag, a drawer that rubs, a panel with concealed shipping damage. Because we are the designer, the supplier and the installer, that call goes to one number — we open the manufacturer claim, order the part and schedule the fix without you mediating between companies.
What each cabinet line is best for
We carry four lines. Each one covers a different combination of budget, lead time, construction and design flexibility.
Forevermark Fastest
Entry-level cabinetry with the shortest lead time we can offer. When a kitchen has to be done before a closing date or a lease turnover, this is usually the answer.
It is built to a price, and it shows in the details: fixed sizes, a set finish palette, lighter hardware. If your driver is timeline or budget, it is the honest answer and we install it with the same crews as everything else. If you plan to stay in the house fifteen years, we usually suggest stepping up a line.
KraftMaid Most chosen
Semi-custom cabinetry with the broadest selection of door styles, finishes and interior storage in the lineup. This is where most Alexandria kitchen remodels land.
The catalog is enormous, which is a strength when someone guides it and a trap when nobody does. All-plywood construction is standard on the dealer line we sell, and the modification range solves most awkward layouts. It is the most balanced choice in the lineup, which is exactly why it is the most chosen.
Medallion Made in America
Semi-custom cabinetry built in United States plants, offered in three levels so you can spend where it shows and save where it does not.
The three-level structure is the point: Silverline for the perimeter, Gold where hands touch, Platinum where the eye lands. It is how we build a kitchen that photographs like full custom without a full-custom invoice. Platinum is also the only true inset program in our lineup, and the dedicated bath line means a matching vanity later.
Design-Craft Frameless
Frameless, full-access construction. No face frame across the front of the box, which changes what actually fits inside the cabinet.
Frameless buys you roughly an inch and a half of usable width in every cabinet, which is real money in a narrow Old Town galley kitchen. The tradeoff is tighter installation tolerances: walls that are out of square show up in the reveals. Our installers set frameless boxes weekly, and that experience is most of what you are paying us for on this line.
Framed vs frameless cabinet construction
A framed cabinet has a solid wood frame around the front of the box. A frameless cabinet does not, so the door mounts directly to the box wall.
The practical difference is usable interior width: a frameless cabinet gives roughly an inch and a half more reachable space and wider drawer boxes at the same cabinet size.
Forevermark vs KraftMaid vs Medallion vs Design-Craft
Construction, flexibility, warranty and fit, in the words we use at the estimate.
| Line | Construction | Design flexibility | Manufacturer warranty | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forevermark | Framed, fixed sizes and configurations | Set door styles and finishes, custom color upgrades available | 2 to 5 year limited, parts and hardware | Tight timelines and tight budgets |
| KraftMaid | Framed, all-plywood standard on the dealer line | Wide range of door styles, finishes, storage accessories and modifications | Limited lifetime on the core line | Most full kitchen remodels |
| Medallion | Framed, built in the United States, three levels | Thousands of door, species and finish combinations; inset at Platinum | Limited lifetime on each product line | A step up in finish, or a true inset look |
| Design-Craft | Frameless, full-access | Contemporary styles, widest configuration flexibility in the lineup | Manufacturer limited, terms confirmed at quote | Small kitchens and contemporary designs |
Cabinet lead times and total project timeline
Cabinet delivery runs 5 to 7 business days for in-stock Forevermark configurations and 6 to 8 weeks for KraftMaid, Medallion and Design-Craft. A full project runs 8 to 10 weeks from signed contract to completed installation, for all four lines.
| Line | Cabinet delivery after order | Signed contract to installation | Typical completion point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forevermark | 5 to 7 business days, in-stock configurations | 8 to 10 weeks | Closer to 8 weeks |
| KraftMaid | 6 to 8 weeks | 8 to 10 weeks | Middle to longer end |
| Medallion | 6 to 8 weeks | 8 to 10 weeks | Middle to longer end |
| Design-Craft | 6 to 8 weeks | 8 to 10 weeks | Middle to longer end |
How to compare two cabinet quotes
Two estimates for the same kitchen can differ by thousands of dollars while naming the same brand. Two specification questions account for most of that gap.
Is the box all-plywood, or is the back a thin engineered panel?
A loaded wall cabinet is heavy, and its entire weight transfers through the hanging rail into the wall. On some entry-level configurations that rail is fastened to a thin back panel rather than a solid plywood back.
Plywood costs more than engineered panel, and an all-plywood box costs more to ship because it weighs more. A quote that looks cheaper by thousands is often quoting the same door style on a lighter box. Ask both estimators the same question and make them write the answer on the quote.
Is the interior finished to match, or vinyl-wrapped?
Some lines use a printed vinyl surface over the panel, others a sealed wood veneer interior that matches the door. It depends on the line and where it is sold.
In a dry kitchen with closed doors, rarely. In a bathroom vanity under a sink, or in glass-front and open cabinets, constantly: vinyl edges lift with moisture and the printed surface reads flat next to the real door. If a cabinet interior will be visible or wet, pay for the finished interior on that cabinet only.
Cabinets in older Alexandria homes
Inset or full overlay in an older home
Inset is the look most homeowners bring us: doors sitting flush inside the frame, tight even gaps, furniture-like. It costs meaningfully more, and it is less forgiving in a house that has been standing since before the Civil War.
Inset lives and dies by its reveals — the thin, even gap around every door. Old houses move seasonally, floors are out of level and walls out of plumb, so those gaps want to drift. It takes a Platinum-level program, careful scribing and a crew that has done it before. Full overlay hides all of that, which is why we often steer older homes toward it unless the budget supports doing inset properly.
Fit, delivery access and permits
Old Town and Del Ray kitchens routinely have ceiling heights that match no standard stacking configuration, chimney chases mid-run, and out-of-square corners. Which line handles that best is a measurement question, not a catalog question.
Narrow streets, no staging space and small door openings decide how boxes arrive and in what order. A like-for-like cabinet swap normally needs no City of Alexandria permit; moving plumbing, gas or electrical does, and exterior changes in the historic districts can trigger BAR review. We fold all of that into the schedule before you sign, not after.
Bathroom vanities and vanity cabinets
All four cabinet lines produce bathroom vanity cabinetry, and Medallion runs a dedicated bath program. A vanity chosen now can be matched to a kitchen done later.
A vanity replacement is the smallest project we take on. It uses the same designer, the same installers and the same warranty handling as a full kitchen, on a shorter schedule.
Kitchen cabinet questions from Alexandria homeowners
We carry four lines: Forevermark, KraftMaid, Medallion and Design-Craft. All four can be seen at our Old Town Alexandria showroom, and all four are installed by our own crews.
It depends on the line, the construction spec and the size of the kitchen. Forevermark is the budget end, KraftMaid and Medallion cover the semi-custom middle, and options like inset doors or specialty finishes move the number up. Every quote we issue is fixed, written and itemized, so you see exactly what the cabinets cost before you sign.
Cabinet delivery runs 5 to 7 business days for in-stock Forevermark configurations and 6 to 8 weeks for KraftMaid, Medallion and Design-Craft. A full project runs 8 to 10 weeks from signed contract to completed installation.
They are all Cabinetworks Group brands, but they are built in different plants to different specifications, with separate warranty programs. Sharing a parent company does not make them the same cabinet.
For wall cabinets and sink bases, we think so: the weight of a loaded cabinet transfers through the hanging rail into the wall, and a solid plywood back carries that load better than a thin engineered panel. All-plywood is standard on the KraftMaid dealer line we sell.
Sometimes. Inset looks furniture-like, but it depends on thin, even reveals that old, seasonally moving houses like to disturb. If the budget supports Medallion Platinum and careful installation, it is beautiful. If not, full overlay gives a similar clean look with far more forgiveness.
Factory-finished painted doors are baked and sealed, which is far more durable than site-painted cabinets. Hairline cracking at joints can appear on any painted wood door as the wood moves with seasons; it is cosmetic and covered practices vary by manufacturer. We explain the realistic expectations per line at the estimate.
Our work is design-to-installation: we supply and install what we design. We do not operate as a cabinet-only discount outlet, because the installation and the warranty handling are where most of the value is.
No. We replace cabinetry rather than reface it. When a budget is tight, an in-stock Forevermark kitchen usually lands close to quality refacing quotes while giving you entirely new boxes.
Yes — that is most of our work. Non-standard ceiling heights, chimney chases and out-of-square corners are handled with modified depths and heights, filler strategy and scribing. It starts with our own measurement, which is free.
Yes. All four lines produce vanity cabinetry and Medallion runs a dedicated bath program. A vanity replacement is the smallest project we take on.
A like-for-like cabinet replacement normally needs no permit. Moving plumbing, gas or electrical does, and exterior changes in the Old Town and Parker-Gray historic districts can trigger Board of Architectural Review approval. We file and track whatever your project needs.

Cabinet finishes look different on a screen than they do in a room. Open a drawer, compare a framed box against a frameless one, and view the same finish under showroom light and daylight. Countertop slab selection happens here as well, so cabinet and counter can be chosen against each other rather than one at a time.

New cabinets start with a free measure
Most people come to us knowing they want new cabinets and nothing more than that, which is exactly the right place to start. We measure the room, build a 3D layout, and show you which lines actually fit your space, your timeline and your budget. You choose after that, not before.
